WTB: Lancair Gear minder

Postby Tom Wat » Wed Jan 20, 2021 2:39 pm

Hi Folks,

My plane has the lancair supplied gear minder. I want to buy another one for a new plane I have, but so far no luck - I even emailed the original manufacturer with no joy.

Anyone have an extra one kicking around they would part with?

Cheers

Tom

What's is a gear minder, what does it look like or what p/n and manufacturer made it. Some of us don't know but might be able to help.
Trouble with photos or login or passwords or avatars or anything, you can PM or email or simply call. you can use text and skype also.

Tom,
My AMS 2000 altitude alerter has a gear reminder function. It depends on the crew to enter the landing field elevation for its target alert altitude. It flashes “Chk Gear” until it is acknowledged. It has a few other functions which I don’t use but it does a great job of alerting you prior to reaching your selected altitude. I like mine and even bought a spare since they are out of production as far as I can tell which makes them very affordable.

The gear minder is a little box that hooks up to the pitot and static ports, and the landing gear lights, Gives you audible notice to put the gear down, or up depending on speed.

you can hear it at 12:56 and 48:18

The gear minder was a super cool device made by someone in the early 20's but he stopped making them.

Tom,
Is that your airplane in the video? I’m interested in the iPad mount that is being used. I’m having a devil of a time finding a reliable and workable solution for mounting an iPad in the 320. If that’s you, I’d appreciate any info/images of the mount that you can share. Thanks in advance

Take a RAM ball mount and mount it with screws on a thin phenolic, then stick it on the canopy frame

I just bought this one for my standard size (10.2") iPad. It mounts with screws, so it's not easily removeable/portable. That works for me since I only have one airplane.

Mark,
Depending on the bulk and adjustability of it, that one might be adaptable to my panel. Tnx for sharing.
