Not to be understated, that airplane has the same canopy mod we did to Jim's 360. (no visible struts, curved leading edge, probably a removable decklid) Although subtle, that is a huge undertaking and it appears very well done on this airplane. To me that says a lot about the build quality in general, it is probably a very nice airplane.

Here are some more pictures but I do not have the full specs and documents scanned. The airplane is coming out of inspection at last report. Once complete, we can price and list. Price? Probably less than replacement cost. Corrected model reference to 320.

Not sure yet, still waiting for documents and specifics. You want another Lancair?

One is enough for me but I’m always trying to get my friends to buy one.

Tom,
Do you have details available on the canopy mod you referred to? Mine is the parallelogram style and while quite functional, is less desirable in the market it seems. They don’t look nearly as sexy sitting open on the ramp as the forward hinged versions. I’m ok with the square lower corners, though the curve is more “eye sweet” (a boat building term!”)

Except for the dated panel, this is a really good looking ship and I love the interior.

Paul, do you have round numbers on a generic Garmin panel upgrade to a dual 3xx? Understanding that each will be different. Like the other commenter, I have friends that I’m constantly trying to get into a Lancair.

Thanks for the info and apologies for thread drift!

I just finished comparing a couple of quotes from vendors for G3X. I would say a single screen G3X would be about 37k in avionics from Sarasota, Garmin's largest vendor in the SE USA. That's a good proxy. We can beat them but not advertise it. For a second screen add 4200-5000 subject to redundant ADHRS and other backups. In the 360 above, the avionics could be sold for 6-10k if the 530 is WAAS.

The harness and panel really depend on whether it is built or you do it. Physically, you could buy wire and do it yourself like I did and Erno did and figure out the material cost and actual time spent on the ground. You could go and fab your panel at frontpanelexpress.com or hire a shop to do it all if you can get in.

Compare that to a quote from a large install shop we all know that quoted one of our members for a 360 panel and install at 75k.

The biggest issue I see today is finding expert people to build a harness in a timely and economically feasible manner. I believe the panel should be done and completed before the airplane is taken apart. I've got a few owners here waiting to commit and skilled people resources are the limiting factor today, not avionics.

If LancairTalk had access to a skilled harness fabricator, maybe a home business, I think we could book them for a year and clear out a lot of people who are waiting but still want to do the install labor themselves. Send your suggestions. I'll split this off to a new topic. [edit: We have harness fabricating capability now]
