Lycoming Prop Seal Replacement Tool

Postby Sam Moseley » Thu Mar 20, 2025 6:16 pm

Hello All,

I have developed a 3D printed tool to aid in replacing the prop seal on Lycoming engines. This tool slides seamlessly onto the crankshaft flange, providing a perfectly contoured surface to guide the new one piece crankshaft oil seal into place without snags to propeller lugs and crankshaft centering boss and no damage to the seal.

I initially designed this tool to work on O-360 engines but recently used the tool on an O-540 so I believe this will also work on O-520s.

I am working on designing a tool for an O-320 just am having toubles getting my hands on a red tagged crankshaft.

I am selling them on my website, there you will also find a video of how simple it makes installation: https://www.smcustomproducts.com/shop/p/lycoming-o-360-prop-seal-replacement-tool

For LancairTalk I am giving a 5% discount by using discount code LANCAIR at checkout, this will also help me be able to track if my sales come from LancairTalk so I can make sure to donate the appropriate amount to LancairTalk.

Let me know your thoughts on the product idea, its been proved to save a lot of time and headache for a few aircraft owners and A&Ps at my home field.
