WTB: Echo UAT for ADS-B

Tue Apr 01, 2025 10:34 am

If anyone has a Echo UAT to sell please contact me. These are great for aircraft with GTX 327 transponders. Thanks.

I have a spare navworx ads600b that would work with a 327 installable under AMOC.
If you go with an echo I'm guessing you're familiar with the mandatory service bulletin.

to be fair, I am trying to bundle with a new GTR 205x so I have not spent any time on the eligibility of the UAT. If he wants it, he gets it. I'll mention your offer and have the buyer refer to those cautions. thanks.

After speaking with the Echo UAT buyer, he told me about the growing use of ADSB data to impose fees for landing and as evidence for enforcement action. The buyer wanted the Echo UAT because it support anonymous mode transmission of ADSB out.

When enabled, this mode allows the device to transmit a self-assigned temporary ICAO address and a randomized call sign (e.g., "PINGFDF8") instead of the aircraft's assigned ICAO address and call sign. However, anonymous mode is only active when the transponder is set to the VFR squawk code of 1200.

To Steve's point, I see that uAvionix issued a service bulletin requiring all Echo UAT users to utilize an approved pressure altitude encoder, such as the echoALT, to meet FAA performance standards.

What started as a simple purchase question evolved into two interesting topics for users of the Echo UAT system.

Just so everyone is aware, we have had limited success getting the echo unit to work. These's only one guy at avionics that can help. use something else if possible.
