Since it is mostly built, the person who completes it cannot perform maintenance and inspection of it, Correct? The wheels are turning in my head on this, as it is a BEAUTIFUL plane. Also, how would you transport it to the new owner? Sorry for the dumb questions, but I’m a n00b here, obviously. Thanks in advance for the Answers, Andy

Hi Andy,

The 51% rule is a bit loose in it's interpretation. I can't give you a concrete answer as to what a DAR would say, but many projects get started and surpass that (subjective) interpretation and are easily registered and the owners do their own conditionals. I only mention it because I built Lancairs and Glassairs for 7yrs and have been part of many projects that we took on that were well past 51%. Another thing to mention is that the previous buyer did contact the FAA and a DAR and the DAR said it would be no problem. If you have all of my logs in addition to yours, I personally don't see a problem. Just food for thought.

Let me know if I can answer any more questions.

Regards,
Ian

IVP project for sale (Ian Taylor from Washington)

Postby Andres Katz » Fri Jan 11, 2019 3:17 pm

For anyone interested in Ian Taylor's IVP which is almost finished.
I was interested in the project since i have completed a IV and and EVO and have the help and ability to finish but unexpected events forced me to back out of the project. I visited his shop and personally inspected the entire project and cannot speak more highly of the finish. It probably needs about 300 hrs for completion and has a brand new Barrett engine and Harzell prop, the finish in the interior is tops and i did not see any flaws in the project. We were in the process of transporting it here to Dallas when my current situation changed which forced me to abandon the project. I took a lot of pictures and if interested email me to yak555m@icloud.com and will share them. I find the price reasonable for such a wonderful airplane and sorry that i could undertake the completion.

There a lot of pictures on this site with partial and complete aircraft being moved across town, state, country and oceans. It can be done and lots of support here from previous moves if you decide to go that way. Where to where is the first question.
What do you need for your Lancair Build or maintenance? Talk here.

As admin, I help list these kits and planes and I filter some of the off-site calls from Barnstomers and other sites where this is cross-posted. The small Classified fee supports the site which supports everyone here in so many ways so support the Classifieds when you have something to sell!

This IV-P KIT is a terrific value for a builder. I just reviewed the specs and put them here in the open from Ian. Call him with questions. But look at this ridiculous value for less than $150,000. If you are waiting to build or have a IV-P finished for you, this is insane not to go look and put a bid in. Fair warning!
First come, First served!

See the pictures up in this topics and Ian's cell number is on the main page. This will be made public so expect a flurry of interest and if you are waiting for another price drop--your call. The last time we had this value in a kit, the package went to Australia and the buyer said it was "so cheap", it made sense even with the container and shipping. With that kit, I was assisting with calls and I had contacts from Alaska, NE, NW, California, Western Canada, Quebec and everyone was worried about "shipping costs". Duh, you have to ship it even if you buy a kit from the factory so get over it and get moving.

Is the plane in Canada? It looked like that is where the barnstormers ad has it placed. Thanks, Andy
